“I’ve never read a book and knew it was one of my favorites before it ended. It’s a complex story about friendship, passion, and our dreams. There is one chapter specifically, I won’t spoil anything and say which one it is, that changes the narrative on us. It’s one of the most heartbreakingly beautiful chapters I’ve ever read.”
“I read this and listened to the audiobook because I just ate it up the first time! I love how it turns “romantic comedy” on its head and it’s from the perspective of a man who just got dumped by his girlfriend of four years. It’s sharp, hilarious, and real. I also adore the ending and how it puts everything into perspective.”
“‘What’s your favorite Emily Henry novel?’ is a popular question in the romance community. My answer always used to be BEACH READ, but lately, I have a new admiration for FUNNY STORY. There are so many reasons as to why I’m obsessed with the pairing of two people whose significant others left them for the others’, but I need to take a moment to appreciate the male lead. Miles is a different take on the male main character and I love how individualistic he is. Definitely Nick Miller vibes in the best way possible!”
“This book is disturbing, horrific, and not for the faint of heart, but I couldn’t put it down. It portrays a society in which a virus has contaminated all animal meat. Because of the lack of animal flesh, cannibalism becomes legal. I read this entire book in one sitting and immediately made my husband read it after.”
“Marianne and Connell hold a very special place in my heart. I always admire love stories that take place over the course of many years. To watch these two grow from strangers to eventual strangers after everything they’ve been through is special, beautiful, and heart-wrenching…and of course, the television adaptation is flawless.”
